BIO
Julia has been a singer songwriter since age 13. She plays guitar, ukulele, melodica, and piano, but she also uses household items, such as pillows, water bottles, tissue boxes or an old slinky, for extra percussion. She's got a sharp sense of humor, giving her painfully honest lyrics an edge. Fans react to her sincerity, but also to her intelligent and comical personality.
Her charm is best displayed on stage or in the videos she posts on YouTube. Using video/audio layering and a unique approach to song arrangement, Julia has created over 60 music videos of originals and covers, most of which have been viewed an average of 650,000 times. One might think that her most popular video must be one of her covers, Destiny’s Child‘s “Survivor“, Weezer‘s “Keep Fishin‘”, or the Foundations’ “Buttercup“, but with almost 2 million views, Julia‘s original, “Into The Sunshine” tops the list. This song is from her 14 track CD, "I Wrote These" recorded with her friends at school.
Julia is entering her junior year of college, keeping busy with school work, videos and a steady stream of shows at other universities, clubs and festivals. She's been known to write an entire essay in the car, as she returned to school to be on time for a 9:40 am class, after playing with her idol, turned friend, Ben Folds. She opened for Ben during his summer tour in ‘08. He now calls her to join him on stage whenever they're in the same area.
When you talk to Julia, you'll find that she’s completely grounded, sticking close to her friends and family, walking away from record deals or quick money schemes. She says she'd rather go it alone, in order to keep complete control of her music and career. "I wont do anything for money that I wouldn't do for free anyway", which is more than most people can say.
Julia's doing fine, flying by the seat of her pants (which she rarely wears while making videos). She's rounding up to 125,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, loyal fans who support her simply because they like her and the music she makes.
