DON GIOVANNI RECORDS
Downtown Boys are a bilingual political sax punk party from Providence, RI. Their first full length LP Full Communism on Don Giovanni Records is full of songs about smashing the prison-industrial complex, racism, queerphobia, capitalism, fascism, boredom, and all things people tell us that try to close our minds, eyes, and hearts.
The record comes directly out of our current critical moment in the struggle for justice being fought in the US and throughout the world.
The band is a voice, two saxophones, guitar, bass, and drums. Singer Victoria Ruiz is a force, shouting English and Spanish slogans strong enough to direct sever thesnaky roots of Babylon. Their live shows are "Sheer energy fizzing over the top of a burst wine bottle of political anger" (punknews http://www.punknews.org/review/12853/shady-hawkinsdowntown-boysbad-canoes-live-in-philadelphia). They will be touring throughout North America this summer in support of the record. "Since we live in an age in which silence is not only criminal but suicidal, [we] have been making as much noise as [we] can" -James Baldwin
