Hailing from Baltimore, Lauren Ruth Ward migrated her 70s psych-blues swagger to her new home of Los Angeles in 2015. A prolific artist in every medium she touches, Lauren has been a hairstylist for 9 years, while at the same time shifting her creative focus to her music in partnership with her co-writer and guitarist Eduardo Rivera.

Galore - “Lauren Ruth Ward’s voice hits you like a wrecking ball, which explains why people frequently compare her to Janis Joplin.”

Wonderland - “Lauren Ruth Ward just oozes talent. There’s no denying it.”

LA Weekly - “Lauren Ruth Ward Is a '70s-Channeling Mix of Janis Joplin and Courtney Barnett”

Consequence of Sound - “A sound that marries the swagger of ‘70s rock with the sensitivity of modern folk. Her raspy, throaty vocals are the real showcase here”

IndieShuffle - “She hits the notes of an early '60s blues psych style with her distinct vocal sound, blending pop elements in to make something very much her own.”

PopDust - “Ward wrinkles her voice across paramount feelings like anguish, anger, vulnerability and ultimately strength.”

Crave - “prowling around local stages like Robert Plant and Janis Joplin’s love child, belting out folk, rock, soul-bearing songs that connect both on a visceral and visual level.”

Ones to Watch - “If you’ve ever dipped your foot in the Los Angeles music scene, then you’ve probably encountered the strikingly badass lady”
