Camille, a singer-songwriter and Teddy, a drummer and producer, created NUEX in 2014. Both lifelong musicians, the pair started recording demos in the basement of Camille’s house just days after they met. One of these demos would end up becoming Lights Off, their debut single. In those first few weeks, the duo honed in on a unique chemistry that would eventually define their sound. The name NUEX, derived from the contextual French word nue, meaning of the heavens, sky, clouds, was chosen as a testament to their devotion to create big, beautiful and otherworldly music, a feat the duo has succeeded in. It is also a representation of what they want to bring to the table—something new, as the name is pronounced.

NUEX first brought their sound to Liv nightclub in 2014 in D.C., in what would become their first of dozens of shows along the eastern seaboard. NUEX have checked off spots in Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York City, and have grown to become indie favorites in their hometown of D.C. They are regarded highly by many industry insiders, and won the chance to perform and represent Washington D.C. in Austin, Texas at SXSW in 2017 out of an applicant pool of thousands. NUEX has had their work featured and mentioned in outlets like Afropunk, Saint Heron, Galore Magazine, The Washington Post, and Washington Life Magazine.

NUEX is preparing to release their debut EP, Affectus, out May 25, 2018.
