Jena Malone is a force of creative prowess. A multi hyphenated artist whose work spans, acting, photography, poetry, theatre ensembles and music.
Jena is known for her diverse roles in film and television. Beyond acting, she also has a musical project called Jena Malone and Her Bloodstains and was formerly a member of The Shoe with Lem Jay Ignacio.
Malone's musical journey began with songwriting in Lake Tahoe, evolving from video experiments to incorporating sound design and vocals. Her project with the Bloodstains was a collaborative effort with several musicians, including Russell Simins, Chris Maxwell and Social Registry Records. Jena then toured with Deerhunter in 2008. The Shoe, which followed, stripped down and became more personal, resulting in the 2014 album "I'm Okay".
Malone's acting career took off with roles in films like Donnie Darko, Pride & Prejudice, and The Hunger Games franchise, where she played Johanna Mason. She has also explored darker roles in films like The Neon Demon and Antebellum, and has been involved in television series like Too Old to Die Young and Goliath. More recently, she has appeared in films like Love Lies Bleeding and Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1.
As Jena has evolved as a woman and an artist she has cultivated a dreamy new Bloodstains record to be released in early 2026. She will also lead her first theatre ensemble later this year and release a poetry monograph.
Jena’s music ambitions have led her back into the studio where she has been conjuring up multi-dimensional tracks for the next Jena and Her Bloodstains album. These 6 songs are rooted in a melodic, electronic space with Jena’s beautiful haunting vocals guiding the listener through themes of love, heart ache and desire.
With an almost otherworldly feeling to them the new material ushers in a new chapter for Jena where she plans to expand her performances into unconventional spaces and venues.
The record marks Jena’s collaboration with award winning producer Jamie Jackson who has worked with a covetous list of creators, showrunners and filmmakers. Her latest score for Apple TV’s “Bad Monkey,” created with driving rhythmic beats, soaring orchestral reverberations set the tone for the show’s interpersonal complexities.
In addition to composing for TV & Film, Jamie has an extensive catalogue of songwriting, producing and performing credits under her belt. Jamie’s multi-disciplinary collective focused on championing women, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ artists across the media landscape.
