Kadhja steps into new musical territory with this driving, politically-charged, guitar-focused statement. The artist takes a firm stance against oligarchy and predatory tech-giants in her first self-release in nearly a decade. For now, Battlewear will only be available for download on Bandcamp, and a limited run on vinyl. A full-length record is expected in the first quarter of 2026.
Kadhja’s first albums, The Visitor (2016) and Childqueen (2018) were celebrated by NPR, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, Complex, Pitchfork, and others. Since then, she has collaborated with Anderson .Paak, SiR, Childish Gambino, Free Nationals, Bonobo, Khruangbin, and was sampled on Kendrick Lamar’s “Die Hard.” After pausing public activity for the last couple years to get a master’s degree in music technology, she’s back with another bunch of imaginative songs formed with care. A stickler for texture, she composes, performs and produces with heartfelt lyricism and thoughtful arrangements.
