Driven by intense local and artist community support, the beloved Oldtone Music Festival will return September 4-7 in Hillsdale, NY with a lineup featuring JP Harris, Down Hill Strugglers, Foghorn Stringband, Tuba Skinny, and more. A new nonprofit arts organization, Oldtone preserves roots music and traditional folkways through artist and audience participation; connecting neighbors, bridging cultures, and sharing insight and wisdom across generations.
The Oldtone Roots Music Festival was founded by Jim Wright, Kip Beacco, and Matt Downing in 2015 as a one day show in Wassaic, NY. In 2016 a full three stage camping festival was launched at the Schober Family’s Cool Whisper Farm in North Hillsdale, NY. The festival ran the second weekend of September until the lockdowns of 2020 forced the producers to cancel. In 2021 and 2022 attempts were made to reboot the festival in limited scope, however by early 2023 a decision to end the festival was made. By the fall of 2023 the possibility of reviving Oldtone as a non-profit event became a reality lead by a new management team. With the support and enthusiasm of the Schober family, Grass Fed Arts was formed. In October of 2023 Oldtone Music Festival received not-for-profit status via New York Foundation for the Arts and the festival returned to Cool Whisper Farm. Oldtone Music Festival is now co-produced by Jim Wright and Trevor Roush. Many of the same amazing people are still working on the show, with some fresh talent and a board of directors dedicated to bringing art and music to our region.
