HITS ALL OVER YOUR FACE [The Peace Bisquit Collection], is an anthology of songs during Cazwell’s almost 20 year collaboration with Peace Bisquit newly remastered and featuring three previously unreleased or new tunes. As he explains, “The songs and videos feel like a time capsule of reactions and pushback against the homophobia during the Bush and Obama years. Combing through the songs that came out while Obama was in office come from a more carefree time with titles like ‘Ice Cream Truck’ and ‘Rice & Beans.’ In contrast, Cazwell’s newest tracks have a rougher sound, emblematic of how much tougher music must be to fight against a popular conservative mentality. Placed together on this compilation, the project as a whole underscores the evolution and reflective nature of Cazwell’s sound and as always, is meant to, as he says, “instill a sense of pride in gay men and get them to release their shame and connect with self love.”
